Vision & Learning in Child Development
An optometrist and vision therapist will join forces to
discuss vision development and learning and some activities families
can partake in to help develop visual skills. Lastly, we will discuss
learning related visual challenges that can affect childrens' school
performance.
Speaker: Yohanna Emun and Sareena Rajarethnam
Speaker bio: Dr. Yohanna Emun is an optometrist who after completing her optometry
degree completed a Pediatric/ Infant Vision and Vision Therapy
residency in New York City. During her residency she gained valuable
knowledge and clinical experience regarding pediatric eye exams,
myopia management and vision therapy. Since making Toronto her home,
she has been providing eye exams and trying to share her knowledge
regarding pediatric visual development.
Sareena Rajarethnam is a vision therapist who after completing her
Early Childhood Development degree completed the Vision Therapist
Accreditation Program through Vision Therapy Canada and the ACBO.
Since becoming a vision therapist in 2021, she has gained knowledge
and experience in various vision therapy techniques including therapy
for children and adults with Strabismus, traumatic brain injuries,
concussions, and learning related visual difficulties. Sareena most
enjoys helping patients gain awareness and confidence with their
visual abilities.

Attendance will be managed using the Meetup App. Please RSVP before coming to the church.
Doors open at 10:00am, and attendees generally arrive between 10:00 and 10:30. We understand that babies nap at various times, and not everyone is able to join at the same time. In the event you arrive after 10:30, we ask that you please enter quietly to minimize disruption to the speaker. Meeting format:
10:00 - 10:30: Socializing
10:30 - 10:35: Announcements
10:35 - 11:35: Speaker
11:35 - 12:00: Socializing
In order to protect each other and our community, we ask that if you are not feeling well to please stay home.
Please enter the church via the entrance with the rainbow fence on Ridley Blvd. Go up the stairs to the first landing, turn right and we will be in The Henry Marsh Room (The Parlour).
Tuesday meetups are for full members but social members can also join for a $5 drop-in fee.
Strollers are not permitted inside of the church. Please park your stroller next to the entrance.
Please take off all wet/dirty footwear when you arrive and leave it in the coat rack area in the hallway before entering the meeting room.
Parking is available on Ridley Blvd. Please do not park in the church lot (the church has asked us not to park in the church lot).
