Are you looking to meet more moms and let the kids have some fun? Joining a playgroup is the best way! We have various playgroups available exclusively to members that are centred around similar-aged children.
Playgroups typically meet once per week, and the meetup time/location is coordinated among the playgroup members. Groups rotate between people’s homes, libraries, parks etc. based on the group members’ preference. Most groups start with a group chat on a WhatsApp as a way to connect, plan meetups and support each other. Playgroups are self led so you can choose among yourselves when and where you want to meet.

Q: How do I join a playgroup?
A: Our playgroups are available to full members of the North Toronto Moms Group. Full membership includes playgroups as well as social events, book clubs, newsletter, private Facebook group and our regular Tuesday Morning Meetings. For our Tuesday mornings, we meet St Timothy's Church (100 Old Orchard Grove) and we have speakers who come to present on a variety of topics of interest to the group. For example, we have had a baby music class, a yoga class, a speaker on sleep and a speaker on feeding. The other weeks are unstructured, and offer moms a chance to socialize while babies play (moms are also welcome to join without babies!). There are 6 month and 12 month full membership options.
To join our group you need to register via our website:www.northtorontomoms.com/registration. When you register please indicate on your form that you are interested in joining a playgroup, and our playgroup coordinator will then be in touch with you!
Q: Are your playgroups organised by area/location?
A: No, our playgroups are currently organised by age so moms can be matched with babies at similar developmental ages. The playgroup is then able to decide on what locations are most convenient for everyone to meet. For example, some groups rotate hosting at members' houses or meet at local coffee shops.
Q: Do the playgroups meet on a set day or time?
A: Our groups are very flexible and it is up to each playgroup to decide what days and times work best for them. That also allows the group to shift the timing as nap schedules change!
Q: What age range is covered by your playgroups?
A: Our playgroups are usually attended by moms who are on maternity leave so typically the range is from newborn to approximately 18 months. Each group usually includes babies within a 3 month age group to ensure that babies are all around the same stage! This helps with aligning nap schedules etc. We do have a playgroup for toddlers which tries to meet on weekends.
Q: How many moms are in each playgroup?
A: We can have up to 10 - 12 moms in a playgroup but it depends on how many moms have joined with babies in the given age range. Some groups can be smaller but we add moms to existing groups as they join so they do grow during the year.
Q: Do I have to join the group at a specific time of year to be able to join a playgroup?
A: No, please join us when it works for you! We update our playgroups on a rolling basis so moms will be added to existing groups.
